KAPIT: Elected representatives must work closely with the rakyat to ensure that all government development plans are carried out smoothly.
Assistant Minister of Culture and Heritage Liwan Lagang, who is also Belaga assemblyman, said elected representatives can channel feedback received from the grassroots to the relevant ministries or government departments for appropriate action.
“Wakil rakyat are the vital link and bridge between the people and the government,” he said during a meet the people
event in Long Busang, Belaga recently.
He called on Long Busang folk to continue trusting in the Barisan Nasional (BN) as the government has proven its concern for the rakyat.
“I’m indeed very grateful and thankful to Long Busang folk because you’ve given me the full trust and support. This was proven during the April 2011 state election, as I won by a big majority here.
“With your undivided support, I can now concentrate on plans for development activities here for the benefit of the community,” he said.
He pointed out that the people should continue to give their full support to the BN candidate for the parliamentary election to ensure uninterrupted planning and implementation of development programmes.
Liwan later handed out RM2,800 in aid from the Belaga Community Service Centre to pupils affected by a fire at an
SK Long Busang hostel recently.
